The information contained in this article is inaccurate.
A piece of rough of fancy blue colour, weighing over 70.00 carats, was purchased from the De Beers mining group at it’s March 1980 ‘Sight’ at Harry Oppenheimer House in Kimberley by my father, Jacob Mouw and me.
The entire manufacturing process took place at Mouw Diamond Cutting Works (Pty) Ltd, 87, De Villiers Street, Johannesburg, South Africa between March and July 1980. Rose Mouw was the designer and planner of the diamond, which I than cleaved. It was cut and polished by our Master Cutter, Dawie Du Plessis.
Of the 3 polished diamonds recovered from the rough, the largest, an irregular Intense Blue-Flawless Cushion Cut, weighs 30.06 carats.
As the William Goldberg Diamond Corporation of New York Had a financial interest in this project, the Mouw family decided to name this historic diamond ‘Blue Lili’ in honor of William Goldbergs wife.
The whereabouts of the Blue Lili today, remain unknown.
Please correct your information accordingly.
Sincerely,
Sylvain Mouw
